Some Food for Thought

Suppose that there is an area in an unknown and obscure section of the U.S. Capitol Building that displays the confederate flag, along with artifacts and documents that honor and exalt the lynchings, arsons, bombings, cross burnings and other "accomplishments" of the Jim Crow era and the Ku Klux Klan.

Or think about this, our Declaration of Independence opens with the following: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Yet imagine that somewhere later, hidden in an obscure section of the document, there is an elusive declamation, written in highly diffusive and difficult to understand legal language, whose TRUE meaning is the following:

The use of the term "men" only refers to those light-skinned people of European descent. It is obvious that our dark-skinned slaves of African descent are by nature a vastly inferior and intellectually deficient "race" and therefore can never be allowed the equality and the certain unalienable rights of those afore-mentioned people of European descent.

Would the above imaginative scenarios be acceptable to you?

If not, consider this; Our official national anthem The Star-Spangled Banner which was written by Francis Scott Key in 1814 contains the following language in the rarely sung third and fourth stanzas . . .
